Saemangeum Development Corporation Secures “Human Rights Management System Certification”

for Fourth Consecutive Year

Extending Respect for Human Rights Beyond Internal Workforce to External Stakeholders

□ On the 8th, Saemangeum Development Corporation (Acting CEO Lee Jeonghyeon / hereinafter “the Corporation”) announced that it had received the “Human Rights Management System Certification” for the fourth consecutive year, becoming the first among other public entities under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

※Human Rights Management System Certification: This certification involves systematically managing an organization’s human rights by defining policies and objectives and having a third party assess and certify the system’s compliance with the requirements for implementation.

□ In 2020, the Corporation, having embraced human rights management, established a comprehensive management system for preventing human rights violations, including the declaration of human rights management, operation of a human rights management committee, and development of a human rights management manual.

ㅇ In this evaluation, in particular, the Corporation received high praise not only for its commitment to human rights among the internal workforce but also in realizing respect for human rights among external stakeholders through initiatives such as human rights education and supply chain monitoring.

□ “The Human Rights Management System certification signifies the culmination of our pioneering efforts in fostering a culture of human rights respect,” Acting CEO Lee Jeonghyeon stated. “We are committed to exerting our utmost efforts to establish a human rights culture within the Saemangeum region.”
